Bioterrorism Preparedness Training Unit (BPTU)

Our Mission

To help meet the preparedness needs of the Health Care Agency and our collaborative partners we provide quality information and training to key health care providers, government personnel, and key collaborative partners regarding Bioterrorism and other hazards.

Health care professionals and various workforce members who support them are being asked to assume new, challenging responsibilities and to function in unfamiliar ways.  A cultural "shift" is taking place in which health care workers are being cast as potential first responders to a wide variety of threatening circumstances.  This sweeping change cannot take place unless all health care workforce members receive timely, focused training.

Partnerships

Our partners are an integral part of our success.  We work with local, state and national organizations to ensure the preparedness of the Orange County Health Care and Emergency System. We also collaborate regularly with various cities, special districts and other entities.
