Since many transportation corridors would fail in a major disaster, Health Care Agency planners used a geographic information system (GIS) to map and divide the County of Orange into nine different regions. This mapping helped to identify health care facilities in each region and the best possible emergency routing in a disaster situation for transport of victims or evacuation of patients.
